Nicely written and an interesting ultimate conclusion.
I recall debating this back in the 1970s at senior school. My art teacher throughout this periods conclusion clearly was “art is everywhere, you just have to find it and make it your own or ….”
We made collages from rubbish, and anything else we could find.
Performance art - that terrified parents, one parents evening.
“Artistic sets of rooms” …
and more conventional styles of art.
Interesting times with digital art and AI art and whatever follows on my there.
Thank you, Mark! That must've been so interesting to see at the time of it. I love performance art, Al Hansens piano drop was a moment for me creatively and opend to a whole new world to love when i discovered it.
I absolutely love found object art too. Teachers like yours are treasures to the box of life with that openness!
I have had such a weird time watching the AI age. I love things like how it can allow a dyslexic person write a book where they otherwise couldn't, stuff like that is a gift to us all through invention. But my heart breaks every time someone says they aren;t a 'real artist' unless they're selling it or that the amount of popularity is somehow a reflection of their art's meaning and worth.
We have so many beaitiful thkngs to express and appreciate creatively. Art is literally in everything, everywhere.
Thank you so much for sharing this, Mark. Art definitely saves. The universe inside human beings really is the best of art all. *Raises coffee mug ✨🙏☕✨🌻💛⭐

Lots to ponder on, thank you…

She was a remarkable teacher and artist.
In our teenage years to be exposed to her thinking and teaching. It was a remarkable experience and unique gift.
I was also able to use the art department as a refuge to escape from normal school subjects and school life. 🙏
